Economic growth and agricultural trade prospects for the Middle East

The Middle East comprises a diverse group of nations, which in total have a population of about 180 million people. While there are marked differences between countries in terms of land area and income per person, they are all net food importers because of their limited endowment of arable land and water resources. Middle Eastern demand for agricultural imports has grown rapidly since the early 1970s.
