Economic growth and environmental problems in South Korea: the role of the government

Asia' s environmental crisis: 235-256

Industrialization was considered to be an essential condition for economic growth in Developing Countries in the 1950s, but unfortunately little attention was paid to other aspects of development, such as environmental quality. As a consequence, these countries have had to struggle with an environmental crisis. This paper examines the role of the Korean Republic national government in economic growth and environmental preservation.
