Economic health care and coccidiosis (field-observations)

Economic health care and coccidiosis (field-observations)

Proceedings 19th World' s Poultry Congress, Amsterdam 19-24 September 1992: Volume 1: 826-830

Control of coccidiosis in broilers is based on the use of anticoccidial drugs in the feed. Despite the use of these drugs, subclinical coccidiosis persists on many farms. In the Netherlands, as a matter of routine, subclinical infections are treated with an additional medication. It is questioned whether this is economical or profitable. At 15 farms, in 52 flocks, the development of subclinical coccidiosis was observed without medications other than the anticoccidial drugs in the feed.
