Economic impact of rural development projects on small farmers

Economic impact of rural development projects on small farmers

Journal of Rural Development Hyderabad 13(3): 199-225

This paper undertakes economic impact studies of three rural interventions in Karnataka: the Farm clinic (FC); the Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP); and Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP). The number of schemes which failed to generate any income was greatest under the IRDP. Although crop loans under the FC did not seem to have any appreciable impact in income terms, the results of minor irrigation projects were quite encouraging under all packages.
