Economic implications of biotechnology

Revista Nacional de Agricultura Bogota ( 897): 152-160

The economic implications examined include the problem of the "free raider" and protection of intellectual property. Approaches to the problem, with particular reference to the situation in Colombia, are outlined and their implications for further biotechnological developments in the country are considered, the underlying question being whether the country should be a consumer or producer in biotechnology.
