Economic performance of the Marilia/Garca, Sao Jose do Rio Pardo and Franca coffee producing regions, in the 1980s

The rate of economic and population growth in the face of growth in the gross value of crop and animal production and of the substitution activities in three different coffee areas of Sao Paulo, Brazil, which kept their cultivated areas stable or in expansion during 1980-87, was studied. The results showed that crop stabilization and/or growth was not sufficient to secure any growth in the gross value of the coffee crop.
