Trials on sloping land at Kota, SE Rajasthan in 1986-87 and 1990-91, assessed the use of contour cultivation and intercropping of R. communis and green gram for decreasing erosion and leaching on a Vertisol (Typic Chromusterts). R. communis Aruna was grown in pure stands or intercropped using up-and-down or contour cultivation, and these treatments were compared with cultivated fallow or Dichanthium annulatum.
