Groups of 10 male Wistar rats, 4 weeks old were given for 6 weeks diets with copper 0.2, 8.3 or 40 mg and lead about 615 mg/kg. A control group received the same basic diet with Pb 15.4 mg/kg and the recommended Cu level, 8.3 mg/kg. Food intake and body weight were controlled and the protein efficiency ratio (PER) was calculated. After the experiment rats were killed and haematocrit and haemoglobin in blood as well as total protein, albumins, globulins and urea N in serum were estimated.
