Effect of different levels of feeding during the dry period on blood serum urea concentrations in dairy cows before calving and during lactation
Black Pied cows, in groups of 6 each, maintained during the last 60 days before calving on a low (group 1) and a high (group 2) plane of nutrition or on a low level for 45 days and increasing gradually to the high level for the last 15 days before calving. Blood was taken 3 weeks and 1 week before calving and at intervals until the 13th week of lactation for estimation of serum urea concentration. Plane of nutrition was varied with different amounts of a commercial feed mixture.
