Effect of earthing-up techniques and irrigation on potato (Solanum tuberosum)

In a field trial in the winter season of 1986-87 at Jorhat, Assam, with potatoes Kufri Jyoti, earthing-up twice (normal practice), mulching with a soil covering or complete earthing-up post-emergence or at planting gave tuber yields of 10.5, 11.5, 10.2 and 11.4 t/ha, respectively, and water use efficiencies of 72.2, 69.3, 66.1 and 73.1 kg/ha mm, respectively.
