Effect of extractants on the results of Nmin determination

, : Effect of extractants on the results of Nmin determination. Bodenkultur 44(1): 7-14

1.0M KCl, 0.5M K2SO4 and 0.0125M CaCl2 were compared as extractants for Nmin (NH4+ and NO3-) using soil samples from arable land and grassland. No significant differences could be found for NO3--extraction, whereas significantly greater amounts of NH4+ were extracted with 1.0M KCl and 0.5M K2SO4 in comparisons with 0.0125M CaCl2. The relation between the amounts of extractable NH4+ was not constant. In the grassland samples a significant influence of the organic matter content was observed.
