Effect of feeding frequency and sucrose supplementation on ruminal digestion in sheep fed alfalfa silage at two levels of intake
With unrestricted feed intake, sucrose supplementation (10% on DM intake) decreased ruminal ammonia concentrations (minimum, maximum and mean); feeding frequency (2 or 8 times daily) had negligible effect on ammonia but tended to increase the acetate concentration; neither affected transit time or extent of digestion in the rumen.
