Carnation Dark Lena was grown from rooted cuttings under a plastic tunnel in 100% peat, 50% peat + 50% sawdust, 25% peat + 75% sawdust or 100% sawdust. Two rates of N and K were applied. Leaf samples were collected for analysis 3 times during the growing season. The number of flowers produced ranged from 207 to 216/msuperscript 2 but differences between treatments were not significant.
