B. purpurascens Aguada sown at Matanzas, Cuba, received N, P, K, NP, NK, PK or NPK and no irrigation. P (50 kg P2O5/ha) was applied at sowing and N and K (50 kg N and 50 kg K2O respectively) 70 d later. At the first cut, 8 months after sowing, the ground cover with all treatments was >75%. At the establishment cut, DM yield of the unfertilized control was 4.7 t/ha and was exceeded, though not significantly, only by the N treatment.
