Effect of floor space allowance on the performance of Mychix layers on litter floor

, : Effect of floor space allowance on the performance of Mychix layers on litter floor. Indian Journal of Animal Sciences 63(2): 223-225

262 laying fowls were housed at densities of 1575, 2025 or 2475 cmsuperscript 2 per bird. Body weight was lowest (P<0.05) and egg production was highest (P<0.05) for birds housed at 2475 cmsuperscript 2 per bird. Egg weight and egg quality were not affected by treatment.

In June 1959 and again in 1960 about 2000 birds, which had already completed 11 months production, were moved to 30 x 30 ft. pens in laying shelters. The birds were given 3, 2 1/4 and 1 1/2 sq. ft. per bird. Egg production varied from 53 to 60% an...

Crossbred pigs (72) were used to study 3 stocking density treatments, i.e., 6, 8 and 10 animals per group in pens of similar size (3.05m .times. 3.35m). Daily gain and feed intake in groups of 6 animals were significantly (P < 0.01) superior to...
