Effect of fluorine, given a combination of sources

In 4 experiments 31 groups of male albino rats were given fluorine at 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.35 mg/kg body weight with the diet, 0.2, 0.4, 1.5, 4.5 and 5.0 mg/litre with drinking water, and exposed to air containing F 0.05, 0.5 and 1.5 mg/msuperscript 3. Concentrations of F of 1.5 mg/litre in drinking water, 0.5 mg/msuperscript 3 in the air and 1.4 mg/kg diet (i.e., 0.35 mg/kg body weight) were unsafe for the rats.
