In a field experiment during 1986-87 at Katumani Research Centre, near Machakos (0 degrees 31'S., 37 degrees 14'E.), Pennisetum glaucum Serere 6A and Eleusine coracana Ekalakala were grown on soil containing 31 p.p.m. P (by Bray No. 2 extraction). E. coracana was given 135 kg P/ha and P. glaucum was given 40 kg P as diammonium phosphate (DAP), single superphosphate (SSP) or triple superphosphate (TSP).
