Effect of gamma rays on the seed output of Vicia species

Neo Botanica 1(1/2): 63-67

Seeds from V. sativa, V. monantha, V. semiglabra and V. hirsuta were irradiated with 2-25 kR gamma rays and sown in separate experimental plots along with controls. Data on number of pods and seeds/plant were recorded in the M1 and M2 generations. Overall, at up to 10 kR gamma rays the number of pods and seeds was increased by 14.0-87.5%, but above 10 kR, radiation had negative effects.
