Effect of growth on taxonomically-useful ubiquinone/lipid profiles from Penicillium

Effect of growth on taxonomically-useful ubiquinone/lipid profiles from Penicillium

Mycological Research 97(2): 173-178

The effect of growth on the stability of ubiquinone/lipid profiles of Penicillium viridicatum, P. solitum var. crustosum, P. solitum var. solium, and P. chrysogenum was determined using rapid and direct extraction and tlc. The approach is novel as all spots on the tlc plate were considered as potential taxonomic characters. Data were subjected to numerical cluster analysis techniques. Characters were stable and separated the 4 strains adequately.
