Effect of gypsum and zinc on the growth and yield of rice grown under saline water stress in coastal saline soil

Rice BR10 grown on a saline, silty clay loam soil in Bangladesh from Aug. to Dec. 1988, was irrigated with water at 3 salinity levels, and given 0 or 160 kg gypsum and 0 or 5 kg Zn/ha. Grain yields were 3.76-4.68, 1.76-2.27 and 0.94-1.21 t/ha using irrigation water of 1.9, 8 and 16 dS/m, respectively. At each salinity level, application of gypsum + zinc produced the highest yields.
