Effect of hypomagnesaemia on membrane fluidity

Magnesium (Mg) deficiency is especially important in ruminants, since it produces hypomagnesaemia and severe metabolic and cellular disturbances. The aim of this paper was to study the effect of Mg deficiency on membrane fluidity in male Wistar rats subject to a short but severe deficiency of Mg. After birth, the animals were allocated at random into 2 treatment groups (10 each), with and without Mg. After 2 weeks the animals were killed, the livers were removed and blood samples were taken.
