Effect of methods of weed control on the yield of upland drilled rice and associated weeds

In field trials conducted on silty loam soil at Faizabad during 1989, the effects were evaluated of hand weeding (HW) once 20 or 40 d after sowing (DAS), HW twice 20 + 40 DAS, pendimethalin at 1-2 kg/ha and 2,4-D at 0.5 kg, both alone or followed by HW 40 DAS, for weed control in rice Saket-4. All weed control treatments decreased weed DW and increased rice grain yields from untreated control values of 17.69 g/m and 121 kg/ha, resp., to 7.46-11.45 g and 2433-3611 kg, resp.
