In field trials on clay loam alluvial soil in 1987-88 near Mit Ghamr, Egypt, sunflowers Florida 328 were given 0, 20, 40 or 60 kg N/feddan before sowing, before the 1st or 2nd irrigation, or in split applications with half the N applied before sowing and half before the 1st or 2nd irrigations, or half before the 1st and half before the 2nd irrigation.
