A field experiment was conducted during the winter seasons of 1986-87 and 1987-88 on vertisols in the central Narmada valley, Powarkheda, to evaluate 6 dwarf varieties of T. aestivum (Lok1, HD1553, HI784, WH147, J405 and HI1123) and the T. durum variety Raj1555, under 5 dates of sowing (December 20 and 29, January 9, 19 and 29).
