Data are presented on seedling emergence, root length, hypocotyl length, plant weight and pod yield in 6 Virginia and 12 Spanish varieties of groundnut sown at 4 sowing depths (2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 cm) at Junagadh during the rainy season 1991. The depth of sowing significantly increased the hypocotyl length, and decreased the root length and dry weight of the plant, but only slightly decreased the pod yield.
