In field trials in 1988-90 oilseed flax Atalante was sown at 200, 400, 800 or 1200 seeds/msuperscript 2 with 40 or 80 kg N/ha at 4 sites in Germany. Two sites represented the cool, damp northern climate of Schleswig-Holstein (Hohenschulen with a sandy loam soil, and Heidmoor with a sandy soil), while the other two represented the southern, slightly continental climate (Freising, Bavaria and Rauisch-Holzhausen, Hesse).
