Cotton Giza 75 grown at Moshtohor, Egypt in 1989-90 was topped at 36 or 50 d after sowing (DAS) or was not topped, and was given 30, 60 or 90 kg N/feddan. Topping decreased plant height, seed cotton yield and lint yield and increased the number of monopodia/plant. Increasing N rate increased plant height and the number of green bolls/plant, but did not significantly affect seed cotton or lint yield.
