Effect of triacontanol (TRIA) and paclobutrazol (PP333) on fruit set, yield and quality of Japanese plum (Prunus salicina Lindl)

Japanese plum trees (cv. Santa Rosa) were sprayed with TRIA (5, 10 or 20 p.p.m.) or PP333 (125, 250 or 500 p.p.m.) at full bloom and again at the pit-hardening stage in 1984 and 1985. Fruit set was recorded 20 days after full bloom and physical and biochemical parameters were measured immediately after harvest. Treatment with 10 p.p.m. TRIA or 500 p.p.m. PP333 significantly increased percentage fruit set and yield compared with untreated control fruits. Application of 10 p.p.m.
