New Zealand rabbits were separated into 6 groups of 8 each from weaning and fed on a diet containing 25% lucerne plus 25% black locust bark, oak sawdust, alder bark or alder sawdust, or a diet containing 50% lucerne, or a standard Oregon State University fryer diet (control). All the test diets also contained 42.5% ground barley and 5% molasses, 2% vegetable oil and trace mineral salt and vitamin-mixture.
