Effects of farming systems research technology on farming communities - is there an impact

Effects of farming systems research technology on farming communities - is there an impact

Journal of the Asian Farming Systems Association 1(1): 9-19

Over the last two decades significant increases in overall production of food have been observed. The need to determine the contribution of new technology to these increases has been realized. Moreover, understanding the impact on the farming community has also been stressed. A two-country study (Philippines, Sri Lanka) indicates that categorization of farmers into adopters and non-adopters is not possible. Methods to determine a continuum of adopters and non-adopters need to be developed.
