Effects of nitrogen fertilizer sources and application dates on yield, some yield components and protein content of winter wheat at Erzurum

In field experiments in 1987-90 at Erzurum, Turkey, winter wheat Lancer was given N fertilizer as ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate or urea applied at sowing, in early spring or at stem elongation, or in 2 split applications at different combinations of these application dates. N source had significant effects on harvest index and protein content, while application date significantly affected grain and grain + straw yields, protein content and spike numbers.
