Efficacy of cut stump treatments for controlling bigleaf maple

A field trial was initiated at a site north of Corvallis, Oregon, where bigleaf maple (a major competitor in young conifer plantations) was dominant, to examine the efficacy of the following herbicide cut stump treatments for controlling sprouting: picloram at 2 lb/gal +or- triclopyr amine at 3 lb; picloram + 2,4-D at 0.54 + 2 lb; triclopyr amine at 3 lb; 2,4-D amine at 4 lb; triclopyr ester at 4 lb; and imazapyr at 4 lb.
