Efficacy of flumethrin pour-on on cattle ticks in Benin

Comparative trials of treatments against ticks (of the genera Amblyomma, Boophilus, Hyalomma and Rhipicephalus) were carried out on 150 Borgou cattle in the Borgou area of Benin. Two acaricides were used: flumethrin and coumaphos. The animals were separated in 3 groups. Groups 1 and 2 were treated respectively every 3 and 4 weeks with flumethrin pour-on (Bayticol Pour-on), while Group 3 was sprayed with coumaphos (Asuntol) once a week.
