77 mares with bacteriological, cytological or histopathological abnormalities of the uterus or with histopathological abnormalities of the oviduct (groups 1-4 respectively) were inseminated and slaughtered 1-5 days later. For mares in the 4 groups, the embryo recovery rate was 37.5, 25.0, 27.3 and 25.0% respectively vs. 51.7 for normal mares.
