Estimating yield of Red Delicious apple trees


, : Estimating yield of Red Delicious apple trees. Agro Sur 19(1): 63-66

Samples were collected in 1989 from 5 randomly selected 24-year-old Red Delicious apple trees growing 6 x 4 m apart in Alto Valle, Rio Negro. Yield was estimated from 3 parameters: fruiting density, fruit weight and crown area. Results showed estimated yield to be 144.1 kg/tree, equivalent to 60 041 kg/ha. Average productive area and number of fruits per tree were 25.52 msuperscript 2 and 956.6, respectively. Fruit diameter averaged 72.07 mm and fruit weight averaged 152.17 g.
