, : Estimation of adenosine-5'-triphosphate by bioluminescence and its use as an indicator of bacterial biomass in rumen liquid. Zootecnica e Nutrizione Animale 17(4): 227-238

Rumen fluid was sampled at 8.30 and 14.30 h during 3 consecutive days in 2 groups of Italian Red Pied cows with fistulae, given diets of grass haylage, sugarbeet pulp molasses and soyabean meal 77:17:6 (diet F) or maize silage, permanent pasture hay and concentrate 25:25:50 (diet C). Rumen bacteria were isolated by centrifugation at 22 500 g and contents of DM, N and adenosine-5'-triphosphate (ATP) estimated. Estimation of ATP was by bioluminescence after extraction with tris-EDTA.
