Estimation of experimental and habitual fatty acid intake of test persons

, : Estimation of experimental and habitual fatty acid intake of test persons. Voeding 52(11): 280-283

Ways of accurately and reliably measuring intake of specific fatty acids in intervention studies or habitual intake in epidemiological investigations are reviewed from the literature and the author's own work. Measurement of compliance in respect of a fish diet from plasma fatty acid values or using lithium as indicator and inclusion of compliance as a correction factor are discussed. Use of values in adipose tissue or in plasma to measure intake of essential or trans fatty acids is studied.
