Estimation of groundwater recharge in a basaltic aquifer

, : Estimation of groundwater recharge in a basaltic aquifer. Hydrological Processes 8(3): 211-220

Groundwater recharge was estimated in the Adila basin in basaltic terrain of Maharashtra state, India using the water balance model approach. The soils in the basin are Vertisols and the soil thickness ranges from 0.7 to 1.5 m. Data for daily rainfall, open pan evaporation, local agroclimatological conditions and soil characteristics were used to estimate surface runoff and groundwater recharge. Interception loss from the canopy cover was assumed as 0.2 mm per rainfall event.
