Estimation of heritabilities and correlations of partial & 300 days first lactation milk yield in Murrah buffaloes

, : Estimation of heritabilities and correlations of partial & 300 days first lactation milk yield in Murrah buffaloes. Journal of Dairying, Foods and Home Sciences 11(1): 43-49

1926 first-lactation records of Murrah buffalo cows at 8 military farms, sired by 82 bulls, were analysed. The hsuperscript 2s of unadjusted milk yield at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270 and 300 days of lactation were 0.55, 0.48, 0.49, 0.46, 0.41, 0.37, 0.32. 0.29, 0.26 and 0.27 respectively. Adjustment of the data for farm, period and age produced very low hsuperscript 2s, some of which were negative.
