, : Estimation of maternal mortality in the Mid-Western Region of Nepal: use of the sisterhood method. JNMA, Journal of the Nepal Medical Association 31(105): 45-55

The survey arose partly as a response to a call from WHO for more reliable estimates of maternal mortality and partly because the estimates from 3 community-based studies revealed differing but much higher maternal mortality ratios (MMR; 1500-2000/100 000 live births) than the regularly quoted one of 850/100 000 live births.
