Estimation of organochlorine pesticides in dairy products by gas liquid chromatography

Organochlorine pesticide residues were estimated in samples of milk, cheese and butter by separation from fat extracts using HPLC on a short C18 column followed by quantification and identification by HRGC using a capillary column and electron capture detection. In all samples analysed residues were below legally recommended limits. The method is rapid and sensitive, has a high recovery rate and requires only small quantities of samples for analysis and solvent.
