Estimation of thyroid inhibitor residues and histopathological changes in rabbits treated with 6-n-propyl-2-thiouracil

, : Estimation of thyroid inhibitor residues and histopathological changes in rabbits treated with 6-n-propyl-2-thiouracil. Industrie Alimentari 30(290): 124-128

In an attempt to establish criteria for identifying rabbits fed on plants containing goitrogens or fraudulently treated with thyroid inhibitors, residues and histopathological changes were studied in 3 groups of male New Zealand rabbits given feeds without or with 6-n-propyl-2-thiouracil 1000 mg/kg for 10 or 20 days. Residues were found in kidneys and liver and traces in muscle of rabbits killed 2 days after suspension of treatment.
