Estimation of yield loss and chemical control of bakanae disease of rice

This disease, caused by Fusarium moniliforme is common in Assam. In studies of individual hills, an infected hill showed a 67% reduction in yield over the adjacent healthy hill. The estimated yield loss over the whole crop area was 15.4%, primarily caused by death of tillers.
