Ethanol-based ethylene and ethylene oxide

Technical Papers of the Fortyfirst Annual Convention of the Deccan Sugar Technologists' Association, Part 1: B1-B4

Ethanol-based ethylene and ethylene oxide

Factors contributing to a recent increase in the indigenous supply of alcohol in India are discussed, including: good supplies of molasses; manufacture of non-molasses-derived alcoholic beverages, thus releasing supplies of molasses alcohol for conversion into chemicals; higher efficiency at molasses distilleries via continuous fermentation, and new factory projects. Acetic acid and acetic anhydride are probably the most competitive products manufactured indigenously from ethanol.
