Ethology and lifespan of Diaeretiella rapae M'Intosh, 1855 (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae)

, : Ethology and lifespan of Diaeretiella rapae M'Intosh, 1855 (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae). Revista de Agricultura Piracicaba 67(1): 49-54

Aspects of the biology of the parasitoid Diaeretiella rapae were studied from individuals obtained in the field in Brazil from mummies of Brevicoryne brassicae on kale and reared in the laboratory at 26+or-1 degrees C, 70% RH and LD 14:10. The mating behaviour and the oviposition of the braconid is discussed. The emergence of the parasitoid from the pest mummy occurred through a circular opening. The development from egg to adult varied from 8 to 18 days.

The aphid severely infests mustard, radish, turnip, cabbage as well as potato and spinach. The parasi...

The present paper elucidates the numerical response of Diaeretiella rapae. As the parasitoid density increases, the number of emerging offspring increases with a significant correlation.
