Ethrel-A as a growth suppressant encounters resistance

, : Ethrel-A as a growth suppressant encounters resistance. Fruitteelt Den Haag 82(18): 16-17

Data are presented from 2-year trials with 3-year-old Elstar apple trees on M.9 rootstocks on the effects of Ethrel-A (ethephon) at 25 ml + Amid-thin (2-(1-naphthyl)acetamide) at 75 g/100 litres water applied post-bloom either to the older wood or to the whole tree, followed or not by 2 further sprays of Ethrel alone after 10 days. These treatments were compared with Alar at 150 g/100 litres applied post-bloom to the whole tree twice, at 10-day intervals.
