A E. sanguinea bloom was recorded in a tank containing Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) at the fish-breeding station, in Pindamonhangaba during November 1985. The water temperature (27.0 degrees C), pH (6.9), dissolved oxygen (4.29 mg/litre), oxygen saturation (57%), electrical conductivity (69.0 micro S/cm), ammonia (0.77 mg/litre), nitrate (0.15 mg/litre), phosphate (0.35 mg/litre) and silica (4.0 mg/litre) concn were recorded.
