Total grain production (excluding rice) in the EU for 1993/94 is projected at 164.7 Mt, down 1% from 1992's estimated crop of 167.2 Mt. Overall, grain yields are expected to be higher than last year, with an average yield of 5.02 t per hectare. The 1993/94 harvested area is forecast at 32.8 Mha, down 7% from the previous season. Production of wheat in 1993/94 is estimated at 82.8 Mt, 2% below the previous season, with yields 5% higher and harvested area down 7%.
