Eurytrema pancreaticum infection in cattle and buffaloes in Guwahati (Assam)

Eurytrema pancreaticum infection in cattle and buffaloes in Guwahati (Assam)

Journal of Veterinary Parasitology 6(2): 15-19

A total of 54 animals (44 local cattle, 4 cross-bred cattle and 6 buffaloes) were examined in a local abattoir in Assam, India. 36 of the local cattle were found to harbour Eurytrema pancreaticum in the pancreas: the other animals were not infected. The overall infection rate was 66.60%. Pancreatic ducts were completely occluded with adult parasites and showed catarrhal inflammation. Affected ducts showed cuboidal metaplasia. There was periductal fibrosis with lymphoid infiltration.
