Evaluation of Citrullus sp. germ plasm for resistance to watermelon mosaic virus 2

Evaluation of Citrullus sp. germ plasm for resistance to watermelon mosaic virus 2

Plant Disease 77(4): 352-354

A total of 670 Citrullus sp. accessions were evaluated for resistance to watermelon mosaic 2 potyvirus in greenhouse and field trials. Plants were considered virus free by the absence of disease symptoms and by negative results in ELISA. Plants were considered resistant if virus free 10-14 d after final inoculation in the greenhouse, or 4-6 weeks after inoculation in the field, even through many were subsequently infected.
